CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA: Charlottesville associates from Brokerage, Commercial Property Services, and Thalhimer Multifamily joined to assist the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank to build boxes for low-income seniors. They packed 540 Senior Food Boxes!

The Senior Food Box program is a monthly federal nutrition initiative aimed at addressing the needs of seniors experiencing food insecurity by providing heart-healthy, shelf-stable pantry items that can be used to prepare meals at home. Many seniors face tough choices between buying food and medicine, while others find it increasingly difficult to prepare meals as they once did. Unique medical and mobility challenges further elevate their risk of food insecurity. BRAFB believes that access to healthy, nutritious foods is essential for the well-being of seniors in our community.

Each month, Senior Food Boxes are carefully packed by Food Bank volunteers and distributed through various Food Bank programs and partner organizations. Last year, in the Eastern Region alone, 4,700 senior guests received food assistance every month through the Food Bank network and initiatives like the Senior Food Box Program.
