RICHMOND, VIRGINIA: Thalhimer Project & Development Services is pleased to announce the completion of SimpliSafe’s first customer security monitoring service center located at Highwoods III.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
The 16,000 SF project, which is currently seeking UL Certification, included design and construction of a sleek and state-of-the-art monitoring center with support/amenity spaces for an estimated 200+ new employees.
Thalhimer provided management of design, construction, and other third-party team members and informed and advised SimpliSafe’s decision-makers on key issues throughout the project. Project team members and vendors were scattered between Richmond, Boston, and DC, so weekly virtual meetings and 360-degree construction photo documentation were critical to the project’s success.

DESIGN FEATURES
To support SimpliSafe’s 24/7 operations, the scope of work included adding a dedicated HVAC system, which is also fully backed up by the building’s five generators. SimpliSafe hopes to foster an inclusive and accessible atmosphere with added features such as two unisex restrooms, a fully equipped wellness room, and automatic door operators at all primary common area doors.
The monitoring center, which accounts for approximately 8,000 SF, features 82 custom workstations with capacity for three monitors (or even six in the future); TV monitors equipped to display not only news and weather events, but also internal stats and updates; open ceilings with LED lighting; fabric wall panels and white noise for sound attenuation and multiple meeting spaces of all sizes.
The balance of the space features a training simulation room; an employee cafe with coffee & tea brewers and a fresh food market; a wellness room; IT work room; lockers for all employees, and additional meeting spaces.
