Washington, DC Restaurateur to Open Graffiato’s New Restaurant in Popkin Tavern
RICHMOND, VA: Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer is pleased to have represented Graffiato in the lease of their new location in Richmond, Virginia.
Washington, D.C. restaurateur and “Top Chef All-Stars” Runner-Up, Mike Isabella, to open a second location of his Italian-inspired spot, Graffiato, in the 6,800 square foot Popkin Tavern space located at 123 W. Broad Street. The Popkins building is a Richmond icon, serving as a furniture showroom as far back as 1909, and has been converted to a mixed-use project containing apartments in addition to the restaurant on the 1st floor. Isabella plans to update the interior and add a wood-burning oven while maintaining the integrity of the space. Graffiato Richmond is expected to open this spring.
Isabella has rapidly expanded his restaurant empire in Virginia over the past two years, which currently consists of Graffiato, Kapnos, G, and coming soon Kapnos Taverna.
Travis Croxton of Rappahannock Restaurant, a well-known local restaurant owner, will be one of Mike Isabella’s partners in Graffiato Richmond. In October, Zagat just named Croxton Number 14 on its list of the “24 Restaurant-World Power Players Around the U.S.”. Last month Croxton was named the 2014 Richmond Magazine Elby Award Winner for Restaurateur of the Year.
